How to Change Your Server's Egg (Server Application)
Learn how to change your game server's egg (server application) from the Settings page — switch between server types like Vanilla Minecraft and others.
An egg is the application your server runs — it sets the game or software (like Vanilla Minecraft), along with its default startup command and variables. Changing the egg lets you switch your server to a different application without ordering a new service.
[!NOTE] First you must learn how to access our game hosting panel: https://curtcreation.net/kb/game-hosting-panel/how-to-access-your-game-server
[!CAUTION] Changing your egg takes effect immediately and switches the software your server runs. This can change your startup settings and may require a reinstall, which can overwrite existing files. Back up your server first and only switch eggs if you're sure you need to.
Step 1: Open the Settings Page
In your server's left sidebar, under CONFIGURATION, click Settings.
Make sure you're on the General tab. This page is titled General Settings.
Step 2: Find the Change Egg Section
Scroll down to the Change Egg section.
Your Current egg is shown on the right — for example, Vanilla Minecraft. This tells you which application your server is running right now.
Step 3: Choose and Apply a New Egg
Open the SWITCH TO dropdown (labelled Choose an egg...) and select the egg you want to switch to.
Click Change to apply it. As the panel notes, changes take effect immediately.
After switching, head to Startup to confirm your startup command and variables are correct for the new egg. If the new application needs fresh files, go to Settings → Reinstall Server to install them.
[!NOTE] Changing your egg often changes the available Server Variables and the Startup Command. See How to Change Your Game Server's Startup Settings to review them after switching.
That's it — your server is now running the new egg. If it doesn't start correctly, open the Console to check for errors, review your Startup settings, and reinstall if the new application requires it.
